Colombia inspiration for Marni La Vereda
Italy and Colombia united by Marni through Milan and the Salone del Mobile, in the search for design elements that recall evocative colors and traditions. Marni La Vereda means the rediscovery of craft traditions, of life in common in which everyone has a leading role, inserted in an urban context by valuable human relationships such as that of the Colombian Veredas. Today in Milan Marni creates a translation in terms of design and creativity born in Italy of distant inspiration, which comes from the folklore of Colombia precisely, with a new collection of furniture, accessories, new processes and new materials according to the tradition of craftsmanship explored by Marni during the Milan Design Week. In the space created by Marni in Milan for the Salone del Mobile, the seats are unpublished, the peacock tail-backs, dreamy birds and chickens roaming in papier-mâché and beads-unique pieces made by a community of women from Villanueva littered with multicolor hammocks and fabrics that run along the walls. PVC textures alternate with new textures reminiscent of frame work, contemporary motifs are added to the classic lines and the more linear geometric patterns. Baskets made with the interweaving of stems and branches of willow according to the age-old tradition of Ibagué and for the first time the craftsmen unite the natural element of the colored plastic threads. Today in Milan, Vereda is celebrated, according to Marni’s interpretation for the Milan Design Week 2018.
