Leonardo da Vinci 500th Anniversary in Milan at Castello Sforzesco
Inside Castello Sforzesco Leonardo da Vinci left one of his most important and ambitious works: the pictorial decorations of the Sala delle Asse. The Sala, under restoration since 2013, will be opened again to the public thanks to the fundamental contribution from Fondazione Cariplo, which is also sponsoring the restoration of the pictorial decoration and the research work site. On the occasion of the celebrations for the 500th anniversary of Leonardo da Vinci’s death, the Sala delle Asse becomes the symbol of the entire programme schedule of Milan Leonardo 500 (May 2019 – January 2020). The exhibition is designed around a rigorous selection of original drawings by Leonardo da Vinci and other Renaissance painters with strong iconographic and stylistic relations to the naturalistic and landscape decoration details of the Sala delle Asse. These details are finally visible again, following the restoration works that have let extraordinary clues resurface again and broaden the knowledge of the original composition project. For the extraordinary opening of the Sala delle Asse the multimedia installation In Moro’s Shadow. will be on show through 12th January 2020. The installation is curated by Francesca Tasso and Michela Palazzo Multimedia Project: Culturanuova Srl – Massimo Chimenti
