The installation of Yona Friedman at the Materials Village in Milan

Materials Village, the hub of Material ConneXion Italia dedicated to materials, new technologies and sustainability, has staged for the 5th edition held during Milan Design Week a large installation designed by Yona Friedman, famous architect-utopist, designer and urban planner of Hungarian naturalized French nationality, always involved in the world of sustainability and the circular economy.

From the main entrance, visitors to the Fuorisalone were welcomed by a scenographic installation entitled “Meubles Plus”,  developed by the Hungarian artist for CONAI and the Consortiums for the recycling of packaging waste on the theme of the circular economy.

Materials Village focuses more and more on the promotion of efficient and innovative materials, addressing a transversal public that intersects different areas: from interior design to building, from textiles to architecture. A path between “houses” and exhibition modules where people could discover materials that open up unimaginable horizons until just a few years ago.

Among the many innovations of this edition, the participation, as a partner, of excellent names such as PUMA and the MIT Design Lab, an interdisciplinary research laboratory of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Boston, which together present the latest innovations on research in the field of biodesign, showing a high-performance fabric that reacts differently based on the percentage of atmospheric pollution. In particular, unisex t-shirts, equipped with sensors able to detect the level of danger in the air.
